Dr. Prasenjit Ray is a Psychiatrist associated with the training of medical aspirants at Burdwan Medical College, Burdwan. Dr. Ray’s intrigue with the infinite shades of thoughts and interaction propelled him towards a career in mental health whose seeds were sown in 2011.

Dr. Ray’s inclination towards Psychiatry developed after brief strides in avenues of Cardiology, Intensive care and Gastroenterology during his residency period. This interest led to the achievement of DPM and MD from the prestigious Central Institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi, with a brief exposure at one of the oldest facilities in this field in our country, Institute of Mental Health and Hospital, Agra. Dr. Ray holds a few research publications in different areas of Psychiatry. However, his primary interest lies in his clinical work in which he needs to interact with different individuals suffering from various mental conditions and address their issues.

Dr. Ray is overjoyed that the field of Psychiatry has evolved impressively over the last decade. However, he regrets that in its endeavour to adopt an objective approach the field has been mechanized into diagnostic guidelines, structured therapy with thoughts, behaviour and strokes of interaction getting squared to fit into cages that ‘experts’ think is necessary.
